For students that know a beginners' amount of English, I would prefer to focus more on everyday, conversational English with them. For example, ordering a coffee or food, offering help to someone, how to properly use please and thank you's, or asking someone questions to get to know them better. I also like to include useful vocabulary such as positional/directional words such as: forwards, in between, above, next to. I prefer to teach this way because it provides a feeling of confidence and interaction that learning grammar and sentence structure doesn't. Not being shy or afraid to make mistakes is an important part of language learning. I would take the same approach to teach advanced learners however I would include more theory such as sentence structures and advanced grammar, as advanced learners would need to be able to identify the various parts of speech and be able to string together sentences correctly.
