Hello! I’m Derek, a native English speaker from the United States with 15-years of teaching experience. My lessons are friendly, practical, and tailored to your individual goals. Whether you want to improve everyday conversation, prepare for travel, interviews, business situations, EIKEN, or discuss more advanced topics, I will help you communicate more naturally and confidently. I have studied Japanese and Korean for many years, so I understand how difficult it can be to express yourself in another language. I explain grammar clearly, correct mistakes supportively, and give you plenty of time to speak. Complete beginners are very welcome, while advanced students can enjoy deeper discussions, debate, and detailed feedback. We can also build lessons around your interests, such as travel, technology, psychology, fitness, business and finance, entrepreneurship, manga, anime, or current events. My teaching style is friendly, patient, structured, and practical. I adapt each lesson to the student’s individual goals and combine clear grammar explanations with guided conversation, role-play, vocabulary development, and supportive correction. Because I have studied and used Japanese and Korean myself, I understand many of the challenges language learners face and can explain difficult concepts from a learner’s perspective. I teach students from complete beginner to advanced level and can provide lessons in everyday conversation, business English, interview preparation, academic English, debate, travel English, and natural vocabulary usage.
