Hi, I'm Mina and I'd love to be your English tutor! I am Japanese but was born and raised in America so English is my first language, though I am fairly fluent in Japanese as well. I will teach in English as possible to ensure maximum exposure to language during lessons but will explain in Japanese if the student is struggling to understand. I specialize in teaching English to children age 5 to 15. I have 3+ years of professional experience in childcare, having worked as a summer camp counselor and rock climbing instructor. From these jobs I learned how to combine learning and fun in order to create the best educational experience for kids. I believe that children learn best when curricula are flexible so that students can learn what they want and how they want. I appreciate it when the student asks lots of questions so that we can clarify any concepts that the student is finding particularly difficult. When a student is struggling to understand something, I try to approach the topic from a different angle in addition to rephrasing my explanations so that I'm not repeating myself over again. I can set up an individualized curriculum or the student can bring their own material or homework from their classes.
