My name is Hamish. I am a qualified English teacher with many years experience. I’ve lived in Japan for nearly ten years. I can teach face to face or online. I am based in Tokorozawa, but I can also teach in other nearby areas/ cities such as Sayama, Iruma, Higashi Murayama, Nishi Tokyo, Kokubunji etc. I am open to different lesson styles to suit your needs including casual conversation. I can prepare materials for you, or we can use your own materials. Anyway I really look forward to meeting you and helping you with your English!

I let my students speak as much as possible. I often use guided conversation with topics that interest students. I let students speak and make notes of any problems they have with their English. Sometimes I focus on specific language points and do playful drills to help students think about sentence forms. I explain points clearly and briefly with pictures, diagrams and gestures. I also focus on improving students’ conversation skills such as follow up techniques, incidental language etc.
